Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a wonderful practice because it offers the chance to be still, be present. It is a work ‘within’ while you breathe and stretch deeply to create more space in mind and body.
It is a slow, soothing, and meditative style of Yoga that targets the deep connective tissues, bones, joints, fascia, and ligaments in the body.
It also focuses on stretching and stimulating different acupressure points from Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Since it is a very passive approach to Yoga where you spend the majority of the poses seated on the floor or laying down it brings you in a state of deep relaxation. The poses are held for longer periods of time, sometimes 3 - 5 minutes.
Yin is practiced cold with no warm up and with more of a focus on flexibility and lubrication.

The practice of Yin Yoga is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. By stretching and deepening into poses, we are opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely. In this process Yin Yoga boosts your circulation and reduces your stress levels at the same time.

Yin Yoga is the perfect balance to those who have a very fast-paced active life as well to those who do intense exercises or workouts. It is also for anyone who is dealing with injuries or a chronic condition like arthritis or osteoporosis as this style in particular is a more restorative practice.
Yin is a Yoga practice suitable for all ages, from beginners to advanced Yoga practitioners, since it is a Yoga form that uses many props such as blocks, a bolster or a blanket to find ease in the position and the stretch.
